
ASC of the NWT went in to Lutselke and Behchoko with the J-Fish Dance crew to do performances and workshops with the youth of these communities. Their message is about cultural pride and expressing your self through dancing.
Kids learned the basic steps of break dancing and also learned about the dancers positive lifestyle messages.

Our hockey teams enjoyed great success at this year's National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, and have a lot to be proud of. It was a great event and we look forward to next year's success.

Be sure to visit the Northern Heritage Museum in Yellowknife to view and explore our exhibit on the heritage and tradition of Northern paddlers. The exhibit will be up through June 30, 2009.
We also conducted special presentations in Inuvik and Fort Smith, that were very well attended!

With the upcoming Olympics in 2010, it is good to remember our own strong Northern Olympic heritage. Northern Olympians, from the 1970 World Nordic Championship Canadian Cross Country Ski Team above, included Sharon Firth (NWT), Shirley Firth-Larsson (NWT), Roseann Allen (NWT), Bert Bullock (NWT), Fred Kelly (NWT), Ernie Lennie (NWT), Martha Benjamin (Yukon), Roger Allen (NWT). We have started a new feature where we will be posting small galleiries of pictures from our various events. Here are some pictures from the recent Tribal Journey event in Cowichan BC (July 2008).
Our NWT athletes collected 8 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 19 bronze medals at the recent NAIG games (August 3-10, 2008). We won medals in many disciplines including Swimming, Track & Field, Archery, Soccer, Badminton, Wrestling and Rifle Shooting. Below is a PDF file listing all of our Team NWT medal winners!
